Seasonal · Phoenix
The APS Electric Light Parade is a Phoenix holiday tradition that has drawn huge crowds since 1987, when dozens of brightly lit floats roll down Central Avenue after dark. It's a nostalgic, family-friendly kickoff to the season.
Floats, marching bands and illuminated vehicles glide by to the delight of families lining the route, capped in some years by fireworks. It's free to watch, and the mild December evenings make it comfortable to settle in curbside.
Stake out a spot along the route early with blankets and camp chairs — the good curb space goes fast. Check the current year's date and route, and plan for road closures and heavy parking demand near downtown.
