Dining · Phoenix
The Fry Bread House is a Phoenix institution rooted in Tohono O'odham tradition, and one of the rare restaurants of its kind to earn national recognition from the James Beard Foundation. The fry bread here is the star, served both savory and sweet.
Order it savory, piled with beans, meat, cheese and green chile, or sweet with honey and powdered sugar — regulars will tell you to try both. It's an unpretentious, counter-style spot where the food does the talking, and a genuine taste of Native Sonoran cooking.
It's a short drive from central Phoenix and exactly the kind of local, non-touristy place we love pointing guests toward. Come hungry; the portions are generous.
