Canal Convergence is a free, large-scale public art event that lights up the Scottsdale Waterfront each fall, lining the Arizona Canal with immersive, interactive installations. Produced by Scottsdale Arts, it pairs the artwork with live performances, artist talks, and hands-on activities.
It's one of the most atmospheric evenings on the Scottsdale calendar, and it costs nothing to wander. The installations are designed to be experienced after dark, when they glow and shift against the water, and the waterfront setting — steps from Old Town's restaurants and bars — makes it easy to fold into a night out.
Go after sunset, when the installations come alive, and plan to walk both sides of the canal. It's right at the Scottsdale Waterfront next to Old Town, so it pairs naturally with dinner nearby. Exact dates and hours are announced each year.
