Pinnacle Peak Park sits in the foothills of North Scottsdale, built around a distinctive granite summit that rises above the surrounding desert. The park's main trail is a well-maintained out-and-back that winds through boulder fields and towering saguaros.
It's a favorite for a shorter desert hike that still feels like a real adventure. The trail undulates rather than climbing relentlessly, delivering steady views across the foothills toward Troon and the McDowells, and it's a popular spot for watching rock climbers work the peak itself. Interpretive signs along the way point out desert plants and wildlife.
It's a day-use park with set hours, so check before heading out, and start early in the warmer months when there's little shade. Bring water and sturdy shoes. From North Scottsdale rentals you're usually only 10 to 20 minutes away.
